Looks like we could be heading for a Winter Wonderland this week. Check the forecast to see how this season of giving is shaping up.
Don’t forget to give something back. Surfrider Rincon will meet Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Centro de Envejecientes de Rincón (Geriatric Center), across from the State Police Station and Municipal Assembly. Meetings start at 7:30 pm. There will be a presentation on Elkhorn Coral Monitoring by Wessley Merten as well as a Bike Path Update. And be sure to attend the Bbeach Clean up, Dec. 8, at Playa Domes.
The PR Department of Transportation's proposed bicycle and pedestrian trail is actually a two lane paved road that will harm or destroy beaches, habitat, beach access and water quality and threatens endangered species including sea turtles and Elkhorn coral. Click here to send a letter urging Rincón's Mayor, the Governor of Puerto Rico, the PR Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to redesign the path with community input so it makes sense for Rincón and protects its coastal resources.
And ESA PRC competitors, be at Domes on Dec. 8 –9 for the fifth district event of the season.
Now you have no excuse for not being sponsored: Freestyle Watches just announced its Are You Next? search for its newest rider. Each week, for 12 weeks total, surfers and other action sports athletes will submit their best action video or photo of themselves. Freestyle will pick one photo and one video winner weekly – prizes include a watch, shirt, etc. – who will then be entered to win the grand prize, a one-year sponsorship. Click here for more.
And Volcom’s giving away $10,000 to the first person that can land a "proper" kickflip while surfing. The rules are listed here. Good luck.
